Co-Curricular Activities

At Beacon Academy, experiences outside the classroom are equally integral to our students’ growth as classroom academics are. Whether studying at the MFA, attending the Boston Children’s Chorus on MLK Day at Jordan Hall, or watching a performance of The Diary of Anne Frank by The New Repertory Theater Company, students learn that intellectual inquiry takes many forms.

Beacon Academy students develop skills in conversing with adults from all backgrounds through participation in our monthly open houses, through our luncheon speaker series, the secondary school coaches program, and fundraising events with our larger donors.

In everything we do, Beacon Academy aims to inspire our students to become active, contributing, and leading members of their high school communities (see Alumni).

Some of our regularly scheduled co-curricular activities during the academic year include:

  • Musem of Fine Arts, Boston, MA
  • Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
  • Tutoring support
  • Mentoring support (girls group and boys group)
  • Sports program: basketball (Emmanuel College), rowing (Simmons College and Community Boating), yoga, swimming (Charles River Aquatics) (see Partners)
  • Luncheon speakers’ series (Temple Israel rabbis, Holocaust survivor, finance executive, author/consultant, sociology professor, former Boston Celtic, and many more.)
