Academic Tutoring
Math and English tutors are the priority for our students. Math tutors need to be competent in arithmetic and algebra; some advanced algebraic topics will be covered. Math tutors also need to be patient, curious, and able to frame good questions. Most importantly, our math tutors are genuinely interested in mathematics and genuinely enjoy working with teenagers.
English tutors must be proficient in English grammar and assist students with vocabulary (understanding and memorization), decoding novels (understanding literary devices, etc.) and writing papers (from brainstorming ideas to communicating thoughts clearly and in an organized fashion).
All tutors must attend an orientation session and sit in on one class.
Tutoring/Study Hall Schedule:
Mondays: 3:30-4:15pm at Temple Israel
Tuesdays: 8-8:45am at Temple Israel
Wednesdays: 4-5pm, 6-8pm at Temple Israel
Thursdays: 4-5pm at Temple Israel
Saturdays: 10am-noon at Simmons College
